As we enter a new month, S P Clark has decided to share a short series of poems which were written in the year 2000 and have never seen the light of day. One poem for each month. Enjoy!

January
Possibilities
Endless possibilities
Adventures
New beginnings
A world of adventures to see
A land of new beginnings to taste and to try
The chimes of the clock rang aloud
See the sunshine part the clouds
January arrives and the chance to start over is here
A new leaf
Happiness with passion
Happiness
No fear.
February
Two hearts can become as one
When the arrow from Cupid's bow
Links the love that Saint Valentine grows
This is the time when the sun begins to shine
And one can see that all will be just fine
February is a month of pleasure.
The ice no longer feels the need to freeze
But rains down its drops of glee
And through the storm and wind and pain
One knows that love will be seen again
Never fear entering February
January is just another memory
Kiss the past but hold onto the future.
March
Spring has sprung
The flowers start to grow
The smell of freshly cut grass fills my soul
The reason for my passion comes full circle and is whole
I search in my gardens and I search among the breeze
I look down at my life from the branch of the tallest tree
I hear the faintest chirping from a newly hatched egg
A tiny little bird tries to find its legs
As it starts to walk a butterfly takes flight
Declaring 'March is here, come enjoy the sights'.
April
Birds return to the lilac petals
And bees begin to gather
Those gentle showers make the roses grow
April
Aprilis
Aphrodite
No more hibernation
The sun starts to warm the earth
Happiness, glee and birth.
May
31 days in which to live for the second
A second chance to start over
To come full bloom like the buds that have opened
Emerald is the birthstone
There's no need to be alone
When the passion and heart of May grows
Put on a new face, don some new clothes
Explore the world in comfortable heat
Before the indolent summer sun begins to find its feet.
June
Midway through the twelve month period
The year
We feel the rays peer down from heaven
The world looks bright and clean
The smiles on children's faces gleam
Always hear the laughter
Forget the ever-after
And live in blissful harmony in the month of June
It could never arrive a day too soon.
July
Plunge from the cliff top
Fall free as a bird
Grace of a swan
Magical and unforgettable
Feel the breeze depart as you land
Diving into the calm waters of the sea,
The wonder of the ocean holds the key to cool the heat that July can bring.
August
Summer still trips over every waterfall
There are no clouds in the blue at all
The heat is ever increasing and the leaves start to melt
This must be the exact same feelings God once felt when creating the Earth.
Summer drifts between the day and night
But night begins to chill without the light
First signs of Autumn creep into view
The crunch under foot, a sensation so new when travelling the Earth.
September
The sun has virtually vanished
Occasionally waving its light from behind the clouds
The air is warm and the breeze is still
The leaves of September crunch and the twigs crack
And as I walk the conkers roll in my path
The chirping of a distant bird warming his nest
Before the rain starts to disturb his rest
Children grab the final strands of play
And Autumn takes hold.
October
Ghosts, ghouls and gory creatures
People plagued with disturbing features
Prowling around; obscene
It's the time for Halloween
The air is eerie and bitter
The voices of the night titter
The echoes of warmer times disappear
Leaving us filled with the need for loved ones to be near
A jumper, a hat and a scarf
A warming drink and heated bath
A night indoors to keep you calm
October is the month of dread and harm.
November
Remember, Remember
The truth of November
The swirling winds
The nights of blanket covered dreams
A loved one in your arms
Approaching the close of another year
Unsure of which course to steer.
Hearing the distant crackle
The distant whistle
The far off bang
A firework display
November is a tangled month
Happiness and emptiness
Unsettling feelings everyday.
December
Twelve months are now drawing to a close
And a new one is visible
Resting on the horizon of my dreams
We'll sail through the festive time of Christmas
And wave goodbye to another year of life.
The robin will dance upon the snow
As the bare branches grey and humble with time
December is a truly blesséd time
December is the wisest place to be
So wave goodbye to another year of time.
