This week is Sea Week (28th February - 8th March) which is primarily an annual national celebration in New Zealand, but its message is truly global. S P Clark has decided to share three suitable poems from his book Haiku.

The aim of Sea Week is to improve the health of marine ecosystems. People celebrate by volunteering to clean beaches, go kayaking and snorkeling, and take pledges to be sustainable. Well...this is something we can all applaud and get involved with.

THE OCEAN WAVES

Watch the ocean wave

Goodbye, it chants, to the calm

Crash the rocks.  Power.

FOR THE SEA

Pebble dances on

The current ripples – skimming

Reach the sea’s deep floor.

SANDY SHORE

Inch wearily down

The dunes cushion the restful

Comfort in each grain.
