This poem comes from the examination of ones own doubt; that feeling of being in the middle of nowehere, miles from the nearest solution. The title is the location of the point on Earth farthest from land...there are actually time when you are closer to the Space Station than any land.

A Poem by Simon Clark
It’s as if I’m not good enough,
As if I’ve reached the oceanic pole of inaccessibility in my brain,
Being as far from reason, far from sailing smooth and my inner sea is rough.
Lost my ability to put one foot in front of the other,
There’s a mountain in front of me too high to climb,
I’m a broken walking stick still trying to prop up another.
I’m miles from the nearest sanctuary and a million miles from joy,
I feel like I’m floating in the heart of the ocean,
Rudderless; sinking the brilliant sparkle of the happy forgotten boy.
I’m staring myself in the face, reflected in the waters still and black,
Repeating, “I’ll never let go, Simon”,
Trying to hear the echo reverberating back.
“I’ll never let go, Simon”.
I’ll never let go.
Point Nemo.
