A new poem from S P Clark for that person who came into his life at the right time and for that right period.

I Visited Him

I visited him at midday to cocoon myself in his arms

To be held as I wept

To feel his skin against mine as I slept.

His sheltering embrace safe enough to release the years of pain

To loose tears I suppressed

To release little hurts that coalesced.

I curled foetal whimpering in his almost familial clinch

Showed he cared as I cried

Showed his compassion after the rains dried.

His uncomplicated acceptance of the things that I’ve been through

Showed me security

Showed and saved my heart from obscurity.

I visited him at noon to thank him for those times together

For helping me move on

For the foundations I can build upon.
