This LGBT+ History Month (U.K.) S P Clark is sharing 20 new poems to mark the 20th anniversary of this historic celebration of the LGBT+ community and its contribution to society. Each poem celebrates S P Clark's own journey navigating his way through the world as a member of the LGBT+ Community. These final two poems remind us to be proud of who we are, to stand together and to look out for each other.
S P Clark says, "it has been a joy to have written these poems to celebrate such a monumental celebration - 20 years of LGBT+ History Month (U.K.) is something to be admired, the outcomes extolled and the efforts to educate praised."

Identity
Written to coincide with LGBT+ History Month (U.K.) 2025
Let me be clear
I am not here to provide symmetry
To be a version of those around me – the perfect other face
Watch me gently, no, ferociously step aside from the interchangeable, the indistinguishable, the clones that drone their way through life afraid to be themselves
I won’t be vacuum-packed or machine-cut and
Not just another carbon-copy
An alphabetised bookshelf, a straight line, a row of poppies
Yes, let me clear
I am not here to squeeze into your uniformity
I bathe in things that differentiate us and won’t swim in parallelism
Our sameness, alikeness doesn’t interest me for the crowd moves to slow.
Celebrate women who love women
Celebrate men who love men
Celebrate those who love many genders
Celebrate men who love women
Celebrate women who love men
Celebrate those who transition and those along their journey
Be fluid with your acceptance and kind with your tongue
Celebrate us all.
Let me be clear
I am determined to celebrate my singularity from now on
Those peccadillos that make me me
My distinctive uniqueness
The individuality that attracts people like moths to a flame
And repels in equal measure all the same
My differentness and peculiarity deserve to be pedestal high
Yes, let me be clear
I am determined to celebrate my identity from now on
I am an original bathing in my selfhood
I am my very own self.
Yourself and Each Other
Written to coincide with LGBT+ History Month (U.K.) 2025
As we stand in this world of weaponised words
Festering hate
Laws being changed and rights being snatched from our grasp
Where people can still die for being who they are
Where people can still be imprisoned for loving who they love
Where the pressure and slurs are building every day
Closing us in and pushing down on our shoulders
We have to fight, speak out, stand up, call it out, name and shame and don't thrive in blame, call it what it is, give hate a name
Do it for yourself and for each other
Don’t forget to check in with yourself and with each other
Be tender to yourself and soft with each other.
