Continuing with poems from throughout 2023, here is "Hard Today". This short poem, written in July, deals with grief; coming to terms with loss.

Hard Today

It’s hard today,

I’m not sure why but it is,

My friends are here and made my day better with laughter, but…it’s still hard.

I am picturing the moment it happened,

The kind staff trying to revive you,

But you came and went like the trickle at the end of a watering can; giving life…while yours faded in the night.
