Yesterday (Sunday, 15th March) was Mother's Day in the U.K. Here is a poem by S P Clark to celebrate that day, his mother and all the mothers out there.

Nest

S P Clark

Those winds, from time-to-time, come tempest-like against my heart

The rains they bring batter down and drown my spirit and blind my eyes with tears

From time-to-time those winds batter down the door

Down and drowning as the rain spreads across my grounding soaking me to the core

But there’s always mother to hug and hold and lean on for support

She is always that feather bed where I can rest

She is always that homespun blanket, my safety, my nest.
