My latest poem, "Bertha Von Suttner's Peace", tries to pay tribute to a remarkable human being whose writings were more than literature, essays and knowledge - they contained powerful words, words that became messages. Messages of peace, acceptance, equality for men and women, an intellectual questioning of religion and more. It is this determination for a better world that BVS became the 2nd woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. If you're not familiar with her - then go read and research...and enjoy.

Bertha Von Suttner's Peace

A Poem By Simon Clark

Once it’s been gambled away,

All that’s left is to rebuild,

Rebuilt within an all-concreting love,

Supportive,

Encouraging,

Flourishing as an individual,

A soul,

A woman?

No gender badge on display,

Leave the box, men, learn to feel,

Felt moved to remove the toy soldier game,

Exposing,

Liberated,

Frustrated by the societal cage,

The rage,

Turn the page!

Lay down your arms; faire la paix,

Une paix durable – her daydream,

Dreamt and taught and wrote lasting memories,

Imprinted,

Recollections,

Reflections of a lesson in value,

Humane,

Dignity.

Peace.
